Sirloin Steak Salad from MN Beef

May is beef month in Minnesota and the official kickoff to the grilling season.  Grilling season is finally here and beef is the star of the grill.  With beef prices on the rise we have some suggestions for keeping your budget and your waistline in line this summer with great beef recipes and some shopping tips.

Less-tender steak cuts from the chuck, round, plate and flank (shoulder steak, eye round steak, top round steak, skirt steak, flank steak) are more affordable, but all require a tenderizing marinade before cooking using the grill.  For instance, Tangy Lime Grilled Top Round Steak is tender and juicy, thanks to a tenderizing marinade, cooking to medium rare (145°F) doneness and carving across the grain into thin slices.

Sirloin Steak and Tomato Salad is like a lesson in “light.” It’s light on ingredients, light on time and light on calories with only 266 per serving.  That’s one benefit of using versatile, lean Top Sirloin (besides the 10 essential nutrients including protein, iron and zinc)!
