If your family supports locally raised chicken and Minnesota’s poultry industry, Gold’n Plump is giving you two great ways to show your enthusiasm!
First, join us for the third-annual Poultry Prince and Princess Contest where contestants will compete in the 4-H Poultry Showmanship competition and 4-H Chicken BBQ contest for a chance at the titles. Sponsored by Minnesota 4-H and Gold’n Plump®, the top three female and top three male contestants from the first and second rounds (August 23-26, 2012) will display their confidence and personality by answering four category-specific questions at a final round and coronation ceremony at noon at the State Fair’s Poultry and Sheep Barn on August 26, 2012. The two teenagers named poultry ambassadors will receive $1,000 academic scholarships, publicity opportunities and have their portraits painted while in royal garb by 2012 State Fair artist Joe Heffron. WCCO-TV reporter John Lauritsen will once again host the live event.
Fairgoers can also stop by the Gold’n Plump Booth at the corner of Underwood & Wright for product coupons and a fun-filled tent. There, they can have their picture taken with Cooper (Gold’n Plump’s chicken mascot), play Gold’n Plump bean bag toss for a prize, or get their hands on one of the fair-famous Gold’n Plump chicken hats! The Gold’n Plump team will be grilling up a storm and sampling its new chicken sausages at noon and 4 p.m. every day at the fair. Hope to see you there for fun family times and—of course—delicious food!
