Minnesota Farmers Feed US. It’s a program that helps connect people to their food and the farmers that raise that food right here in the state we call home. And it’s sponsored by Minnesota’s farmers, so you know you’re getting the best information right from the source.
Through a series of online farm tour videos at www.farmersfeedus.org/mn, people had the opportunity to “visit” and learn about farms throughout the state. After watching one of these mini farm tours they could register for several grocery prizes, the largest prize being “free groceries for a year,” a $5,000 value!
The sweepstakes closed in October, and winners were randomly selected and then awarded their prizes throughout the fall and early winter of 2011. We’re excited to introduce you to these winners. They are Minnesotans just like you, curious about the state’s food and farmers.
Grand prize winner of “Free Groceries for a Year” is Gail Olson of Blaine, Minn. Also from the Twin Cities metro area is one of two first prize winners, Miyuki Watson of Shoreview, Minn., who won $1,000 in free groceries. Our other first prize winner of $1,000 in free groceries was awarded her prize at an on-farm ceremony near her home in Renville, Minn. Her name is Crystal Nelson (right), and she is pictured below with area farmer Eric Watson and Minnesota Farmers Feed US Coordinator Lisa Reeck.
